Privacy
topo is built for classrooms. It has no accounts and no ads, and it doesn’t track you. Here is exactly what it stores and sends.

What stays on your device
topo saves your current landscape, your settings, which panels are open and which video lessons you’ve watched in your browser’s local storage. This never leaves your device. Clearing your browser’s site data for topo.science removes it.
What gets sent, and where
- Build with AI. The description you type goes to topo’s server and to Cloudflare Workers AI, which turns it into a landscape and checks it’s appropriate for school. topo doesn’t save descriptions. Please don’t type names or other personal details.
- Real places. A place search goes through topo’s server to OpenStreetMap to find the location. Elevation data comes from the open terrain tiles on AWS, again through topo’s server. Those services see the search and the map area, not you.
- Video lessons. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. Videos play in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (
youtube-nocookie.com), and Google’s privacy policy applies once you play one. - Support. The Support button opens a Buy Me a Coffee checkout panel. Nothing loads from Buy Me a Coffee until you click it, and anything you enter there goes to them, not to topo.
Hosting and logs
topo runs on Cloudflare. Like any website, Cloudflare records basic request details, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested. These are used only to keep the site running and secure, and to limit how often Build with AI can be used. They are kept for a short time and then deleted automatically.
Students and schools
topo doesn’t ask for, collect or store students’ personal information, so there is nothing to share or sell. Students can use it without signing in or giving an email address.
